Virgin Mobile S.A.

Posted May 29th 2009

The NGT Africa Summit team are delighted to announce that Steve Bailey, CEO of Virgin Mobile S.A. will be joining us in Nairobi in October.

Steve, a former senior lieutenant to Cell C CEO Jeffrey Hedberg, took over at Virgin Mobile in November. He brings with him seven years of experience within the telecommunications industry and was reponsable for the great turnaround of Cell C, under Jeffery Hedberg.

Virgin Mobile South Africa
www.virginmobile.co.za

Virgin Mobile launched as the country's 4th mobile service provider in June 2006 as a joint venture between Virgin management and Cell C. You could say our main mission is to reduce crime – because the mobile industry in South Africa has been responsible for daylight robbery for way too long!

By harnessing Cell C's extensive network infrastructure, we can focus instead on WOWing you with our products and service. Unfortunately you may mistake yourself for royalty after a while and get a discernable twitch when you have to deal with anybody else. Our apologies.

Virgin Mobile keeps things simple: We don't lock you in with a contract. We won't bamboozle you with hundreds of rates, as ours are 24/7. And we charge per second so you don't have to yada yada to fill up that full minute you're paying for.

We offer all the usual mobile products and services including voice services, SMS, MMS, GPRS and EDGE, and international roaming. And there's no better place to binge chill than on our WAP portal, V.Spot, with graphix and trax downloads and loads of other free stuff available.

We're super proud of our award winning Virgin Mobile stores in Gauteng, the Western Cape and Kwazulu Natal. Our products are also now also available in more than 1000 retail outlets across the country – including CNA, Woolworths, Jet, Edgars, Musica, and Clicks stores, and Virgin Active gyms.

Virgin Mobile South Africa is the product of a global revolution. The first Virgin Mobile operation launched in the U.K in 1999 and, with 5 million customers, it's among the top performers ever in the world. Virgin Mobile has more than 3 million customers in the U.S. and our Canadian counterparts are on a mission to contain a terrible outbreak of the Catch. Symptoms include unsightly hidden fees, long-term contracts and high rates so watch out!
